Research Training Awards are available to highly qualified graduate students at the master’s and doctoral level who are undertaking full-time research training on the prevention and/or treatment of occupational illness, injury, and disability. The program is designed to support the development of research capacity in occupational health and safety in British Columbia. To be eligible for consideration, research projects must address WorkSafeBC’s research priorities.
Awards include a $20,000 stipend and a $2,500 research and travel allowance. Each award will be made on the basis of academic standing, the proposed research project, the research training environment, and the letters of reference.
The 2011 competition has now closed and student applications are undergoing review. Decisions on funding are expected to be made in May 2011.
