Prosthetics and WorkSafeBC

WorkSafeBC does not currently have a formal agreement with prosthetists, however we may authorize prosthetic services performed by the following qualified providers:

Certified Prosthetist – C.P. (c) or
Certified Prosthetists and Orthotists – C.P.O. (c)

Providers certified by the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO) are eligible to provide prosthetic services to injured workers.

To verify the status of a claim

Phone the WorkSafeBC Claims Call Centre to determine if a claim has been submitted and accepted.

Authorization process

It is essential that a WorkSafeBC officer pre-authorization is obtained in writing prior to providing any prosthetic devices and/or services by completing Form 83D19: Request for Authorization for Prosthetic Services.

Fax the completed authorization form to the WorkSafeBC officer for approval prior to providing the service:

Billing process

Upon receipt of approval from the WorkSafeBC officer, please provide the injured worker with the appropriate devices and services, and complete Form 83D13: Invoice for Prosthetic Services.

When completing the invoice, please indicate the appropriate item code for the device supplied under the “Fee code” column.
